The department was initially established in the academic session Dec 1970. A new course in Industrial Microbiology with Botany and Chemistry combination was introduced in session July 2006 This course was approved by UGC New Delhi for Introduction of degree course as a vocational subject.
The Department of Botany and Microbiology is presently forgoing ahead with UG courses (Botany,Zoolgy and Industrial Microbiology) and PG course in Botany setting new land marks in teaching and learning.
The Department enjoys the status of star performer in the institution as all these Courses are running full fledging since their establishment and department has been appreciated
Activities of dept.
- Excursion tour to study biodiversity and Ecological.
- To organize camp in villages importing pathology training.
- To give responsibility to students to take care of equarium and study life cycle of fish.
Achievements of dept.
Many of the students have been selected for various departments like forest dept., fisheries, pathological lab , physiotherapy etc.
